Hello everyone. After months of work behind-the-scenes, today we can reveal the new Business Leader website and magazine.
Our website, magazine, podcast and Off to Lunch newsletter will work together to form an inspirational, aspirational and agenda-setting business publication for the UK.
I want to provide you with a quick introduction to Business Leader’s new content online and in print.
The new edition of the magazine is on its way to shops but you can read it now by subscribing to the digital version via the link below. Once you have subscribed a digital version of the magazine will appear…
“Why are you bothering with a magazine?” That is a question we have heard plenty of times over the last few months as we have built the new Business Leader. But we don’t believe print media is dead. Far from it. In fact, we believe there are lots of people who want to read our content on paper and want to keep it on their bookshelf so they can refer back to it over time. That is why Business Leader magazine has been built to be a premium product. One that will stand the test of time and be relevant many months after it was published. We see it as a bookazine rather than a magazine. We want the editions of Business Leader to come together to form a business bible on your bookshelf.
It wasn’t until I saw the finished version of the new magazine that I realised it has another big benefit. It physically encapsulates what Business Leader is and makes it very clear there is nothing else like this in the UK. That is really exciting.
Our magazine will be released every other month and cost £10 - or £50 for an annual subscription. Our online content will be free for now.
Here is a summary of our new content.
Firstly, I have written an editor’s letter introducing the new Business Leader and what you can expect from us. You can read that here
Next, let me introduce you to the brilliant Business Leader Experts. Our best-of-the-best columnists will offer insight and wisdom on the key issues for businesses. You can expect new columns from them every month. We are launching with eight experts but keep your eyes peeled because there are two more exciting experts to come. You read their first pieces by clicking on the link below…
Next, our cover interview is with Simon Arora about how he and his brothers built B&M into one of the biggest retailers in the UK. B&M is one of the business success stories in the UK in the 21st century. It is a remarkable story. The best of the interview is covered in the magazine and is not online. You can listen to my full conversation with Simon Arora via our podcast. The link to part one is below and part two will be released next week:
Our regular Lessons from Another Field feature will interview someone from outside the world of business about what they have learned about life, leadership, innovation, success and more. Our first star is Jason Atherton, the chef. You can read the piece by clicking on the image below:
Next, we will have in-depth features about the issues that matter to businesses. Check-out Andrew Lynch’s brilliant piece on whether it is worth becoming a B Corp and Josh Dornbrack on how businesses are using wargaming to develop their strategies. You can read these pieces by clicking the images below:
Our regular Bookshelf feature will summarise the key conclusions of the latest business books to ensure that you keep up-to-date with the latest ideas. We start by looking at Amy Edmondson’s award-winning book Right King of Wrong:
Our rankings will take a look at the businesses or business leaders leading the way, sometimes with an irreverent slant. Our focus in this edition of Business Leader is strategic pivots:
Lastly, you can expect a collection of smaller regular features from us. These include Against the Grain, which will look at businesses who are challenging common assumptions about how things should be done, Secret Sauce, which looks at what makes a business truly unique, and Case Study, which looks at the lessons that can be learned from stories of success or failure.
This is just the start. We will be introducing more new features and content in the coming weeks.
